I am sure the beauty we saw along the way was not so beautiful for the locals who has to live with it for months.

The kang 炕 is a traditional heated platform used particularly for sleeping in the northern part of China.It is made of bricks or other forms of fired clay and more recently of concrete in some locations. It is heated with coals. The word kang means "to dry".

Mount Yangcao stands between Snow Valley and Snow Town. You would have to climb it if you wanted to get the other side. We were given a choice: to hike or ride a snowmobile. The guide kept insisting on the snowmobile because hiking would take such a long time. Hiking was the best decision we made. Browse through the gallery to see why.

The higher we climbed, the better scenery got. The clouds began to roll back, the sun broke through and we were treated to the most beautiful winter scenery one could have hoped for.

Snow Town is truly a winter Wonderland! The designs of the snow on roofs and bushes look like icing on cakes and mushrooms.

The snow sculpture was a pleasant surprise. We didn't expect to see any. They had nearly a dozen or so different sculptures and most were big size.

The viewing platform is the place to see the wonder of the town. The residents are told not to disturb the pristine snow in their backyard by walking on them. See if you can find what looks like a hippo and a smile photobombing our photo.

The night scenery is just amazing. It takes a whole new life. The mushrooms and cake icings look so different with lights.
