The Great Hall of the People is a large hall for political meetings and cultural events. The Hall is located in Yuzhong District, and serves as one of the architectural symbols of Chongqing. The exterior resembles the Temple of Heaven in Beijing. This is the only building that has not changed since my first visit in 1984.

Chongqing at Night 晚上的重庆

To say much has changed since I first visited this city in 1984 is a great understatement. I wished I had spent more time exploring during my last visit. I was disappointed that one of the mayor bridges of Chongqing was not lit.

Jiangbei Park 江北公园

This is a nice open park for everyone to enjoy and spend time together with family. There are a few areas of interest around the park. It is also a popular site for wedding photos.

Visit with my former student

I had Steven as a student from 1985-1987 while teaching in Tianjin. I gave him the nickname Sugar because his hometown was famous for sugar. From that point on all his classmates called him Sugar. He eventually changed his name to Steven because Sugar wasn't very “professional”. It had been nearly 20 years since we last saw him.

Zhuoshui Ancient Town 黔江区濯水古镇

Zhuoshui Ancient Town in Qianjiang, is located at the river bank of Apeng River, the main tributary of Wujiang River. Zhuoxi Primary School 濯水镇濯西小学

While Zhuoshui Town Zhuoxi Primary School 濯水镇濯西小学 is technically a SoH school, it was YCIS Chongqing's sister school and we had no relationship with the school and that is why I did not include this in my SoH page. We were fortunate to have made a trip before the renovations. YCIS raised funds to remodel one of their buildings that had not been in used due to structural instability.
